4 more words!

Teacher: Ms. Andrade NorthFork teacher: Ms. Shattner
Title of lesson: 12 powerful words dance. Date: 2-22-2010

The specific academic objectives for this lesson were to teach our students the 12 powerful words that would help them unraavel any passages or math problems that may come up. They were first taught the first 4 words of the dance. This time they were taught the next 4 word making that 8.

The objectives were grade level appropriate this time just because we were only teaching them the dance. Kindergarten understand how to follow music and rhythm and how to dance, so we didn't really have a difficulty they understood it well and seem to enjoy doing it.

The objectives were meet. Our objective was to teach them the dance and we split them up this time only want to teach them the middle 4 words. Which they did understand very well. And we reviewed from last class the first 4 words and they remembered. So put them all together and they had the 8 out of 12 powerful words.

The factors that we considered for this is the fact that there kindergartens and they wont really unraavel any story yet. They have this starting 3rd grade. But yet we can teach them this so they can be prepared. Besides it was a dance with meaning and they enjoyed the time and dance.

The content seemed to be very relevant because it was a follow up, from the first time we went to teach them the first four words. Then this follow up from last class , plus this 4 words and next time we go teach them the last 4 and finish with a story.

The strongest moments in our lesson were when we taught them how to dance. Just because it was exciting and fun to them. It had them interested and they wanted to keep on going and learn more. There was a lot of participation and it was fun to work with them.

The areas that we needed to work on would be class room management and moving around the kids more often. Class room behavior sometimes go out of hand and we had to settle them down at times, besides that everything was great.

Reflection 2-26-10

Ms. Andrade 2-26-2010

Abby And the Apple tree.

The specific academic objectives in this lesson plan was to make sure our students understood the "12 powerful words" and can use them towards unraaveling the story Abby and the Apple tree. They first learned the dance and the words and on this day when we went bacl they finished the dance and unraveeled this story. We wanted to make sure they understood and connected the words to the story.

The objectives weren't really grade level appropiate, since our kindergaten class is a little slower then usual, and most of them haven't understood or captured how to read yet. Theis teacher told us that they dont know what multiple choice is. Instead to use symbols and pictures so they can see and understand , comprehend better.

The objectives were met, the objective of them understanding how to unraveel worked. They were able to understand how to answer these questions. They understood with our help what the main concept of the story was and not really write or circle the answer but they stated and spoke the answer out loud.

The factors we had in mind for this lesson was the fact that they were in elementary school and that they weren't really that advanced. So we did know it was going to be challenging in a way, which it was but this can only make us better for next time we go and teach them.

The content was very relevant, for the fact that we been teaching these 12 powerful words for the last 3 visits, the first visit we tought them them the first 4, second visit the other 4 and the last visit the last 4 words making that 12, and finally connecting them to , how to unraavel a story.

The strongets moment of our lesson must of been teaching them the dance to the kids. They was we connected with them and participated really showed they enjoyed this lesson. They remembered the dance even tough personally I did doubt the fact that they would've remembered. They totally surprised me.

Areas that I recognized that needed improvement would heva been more classroom management and moving around the kids more. Making sure they can understand and make sure that the lesson is appropiate for their grade. But besides that friday was very successful to us at North Fork Elementary.
